You'll get advice on clothing and see actual examples showing you why white shirts aren't a good idea for your portrait sessions, why you shouldn't wear short sleeves. You'll see examples of light colored pants with a dark shirt and you'll see for yourself how light colors come forward and dark colors recede, which makes the bottom half (pants), look bigger than the top half (shirt). Earth tones are the most flattering colors to wear outdoors for your senior pictures. Bright red generally looks awful with a background of greenery. Browns, tans, dark greens, and black are all excellent choices for environmental portraits. Skirts and short dresses aren't usually a good choice for outdoors, because they limit your posing options; it's hard to sit when posing in a short skirt. You won't want to wear clothing with busy patterns, or bold stripes because busy prints will detract from your face and are guranteed to make you look a size larger. Logos on clothing should be kept to a minimum; twenty years from now, you might not think that abercrombie, american eagle or disel logo in three inch letters across your chest is quite as cool as you do now. Big logos will detract from your face just the same as busy patterns, avoid them! Black fingernail polish is back in style and senior girls need to know that it's not a great look for your images. It'll be out of fashion as quickly as it came in so it will date your photograph and it'll definately look odd. Hair shouldn't be stiff, so don't use much, if any hairspray, or gel. You want your hair to move with you when you tilt your head. How long will my session last? Graduating seniors, can expect their session to last at least four hours. You will never be hurried or rushed during your portrait session and Ann will spend as much time as needed in order for your portraits to be one of the most exciting experiences of your entire senior year. All of our sessions for seniors include outdoors and we begin early in the morning in order to catch the most beautiful light of the day. You'll caravan with the photographer to at least 4 distinct locations, urban, environmental, casual, formal, city, country, etc, each with many different posing opportunities. Most of the moms and some of the dads accompany their senior on the shoot to assist with hair and clothing. We all have a ton of fun! Ann will work with you showing you how to pose and explaining what she does along the way. After the outdoor pictures are complete, usually two or two and a half hours, you'll head for the studio where you'll have a chance to refresh your makeup and have a cold drink and snacks. You can even plug in your curling iron or straightner and fix your hairdo if you like, no rush. Headshots photography, Baby photography, Maternity photography and Glamour sessions are all in studio and there are no time limits. Ann doesn't schedule any appointments right before or right after your shoot to insure that there is plenty of time so your session is not hurried or rushed. Plenty of time is allowed in case you need to take a break to fix your hair, to feed the baby, etc. Special requests are welcomed and we will accomodate you if possible, lets discuss what you have in mind! Sorority rush or recruitment photos are an important detail in your application process to gaining admission to the sorority of your dreams at your college. We have special sessions for sorority rush portraits in the summers during the months of June and July. Make sure you put your best image in front of your future sorority sisters. Most university's panhellenic councils ask that high school senior submit a headshot and a full length portrait for each sorority before sorority recruitment begins. Wallets are generally accepted for this purpose. In most cases, the photographs you submit will be the first thing these potential sorority sisters know of you. I don't need to tell you how important it is that you look your best.
